Macbook Pro For Music Recording
- As of early-2020, this is the best MacBook Pro for music production. I would stick with the 512GB SSD and expand with an external SSD later as needed unless you know you'll need the extra space. It also comes with a Radeon Pro 5300M with 4GB video RAM. It comes with 4 USB-C ports so you will need to get adapters or a dock.
- Most people like the MacBook Pro because (I think) it is the easiest and most stable to work with on Music and Audio. If you want to buy a MacBook, I would recommend either a low budget MacBook Pro 13' or 15', or the 13' MacBook Air. It's depending on what exactly you try to produce. For most Musicians the 15' MacBook Pro is the way to go.
- If you ask me, the new Mac mini is THE starter Mac for music production – an affordable way to get into the macOS ecosystem and run Logic Pro X at full speed. The base model is quite the capable little fella and it will take a lot of plugin and sampler instances before it starts aching and panting.
